Hosta Beats Rain

hosta after light rain
Last night’s rain was so light that the mulch under the hosta leaves didn’t get wet. Or was it the that the leaves shielded against the condensing morning dew?

It appears to me that the mulch has received a dark tan from the sun. The hosta leaves are working as a sun protectant. Most sun screens contains hosta. Aloe, for treating sunburn, is also closely related to the hosta.
