New Hope Creek Bottom Update
Tuesday, October 16th, 2007With the drought continuing, a reader asked for an updated picture of the New Hope Creek “subflooring” I showed in August. The boards are completely dry now.
The water is at least a foot lower than before and the small pool in the background is about the only water in that section of the creek. Here is the creek bed away from the dam site.
Updated Matrix Multiply Times
Monday, October 1st, 2007I finally got around to running my matrix multiply microbenchmarks on Windows as well as Mac. Here’s the summary of times on Mac OS X and Windows XP on the same Mac Book Pro.
| Mac OS X | Windows XP | ||
|---|---|---|---|
| Java 1.5 | C | Java 1.6 | C |
| ms | ms | ms | ms |
| 22 | 11.2 | 12.2 | 12.7 |
(Though not a big table, I’m using it to test out support for HTML 4 (ca. 1999) table elements like THEAD.)
